Summer in Suffolk museums is back for the summer. Throughout the school holidays museums across the county will be offering an exciting array of events, activities, and workshops for all the family to enjoy together.

There’s a great range of events to choose from this year. Highlights include a Family Fun Day at Norfolk & Suffolk Aviation Museum, where aircraft enthusiasts will be able to access the cockpits of the aircraft on-site. This day will also feature a spitfire fly-past by the Britain Memorial Flight, so keep your eyes peeled for when it passes!

The Long Shop Museum are hosting Suffolk Steampunk Spectacular, where the former industrial manufacturers will be showing off their impressive steam power. Visitors will get the chance to immerse themselves in the wonderful world of Steampunk accompanied by the Pretty Grim Dancers and classic Steampunk-themed activities. Speaking of steam power, the Mid-Suffolk Light Railway Museum will be offering steam engine rides at its Steam Railway Days on two of its locomotives for all the family to enjoy throughout the summer.

If you like a good tale from yesteryear, the Yarnsmith of Norwich will be making his way down to Aldeburgh during the summer. You will find him sitting outside the Moot Hall in his fabulous medieval tent – take a seat and listen as his story unfolds. If watching a film is more your thing, why not head to the Museum of East Anglian life’s Outdoor Cinema? Screening at the cinema will be Ratatouille, The Princess Bride, Knives Out and Grease. There will even be the option to purchase some cinema essentials – popcorn, sweets and drinks.

Most museums and activities are either low-cost or completely free. Many sites offer free parking and refreshments or a chance to unwind with a family picnic in the sun.
