Helping communities in Suffolk to become even friendlier, more supportive, and kinder places to live.

The brand-new website for Suffolk Good Neighbour Network has launched. Your community group is invited to join if you are volunteers helping your neighbours or would like to be supported to become a constituted group.

Good Neighbour Groups are voluntary initiatives run by local residents who want to help people in their community to enjoy a better quality of life by offering them support with everyday tasks. This helps to build a stronger and more resilient community.

We asked local people what their Good Neighbour Group meant to them:

“A lifeline. I am housebound with no family near. Not just a Covid-19 problem, but permanent.”

“It took away some of the stress of having no family near to help during shielding. It made me feel safer.”

“A sense of belonging and being supported.”

“Helped us feel more secure during lockdown as my husband is vulnerable and we were not going out at all.”

“It has meant the world to me and helped me deal with bereavement following the death of my husband in February.”

If you’re interested in starting a safe and sustainable community support group or Good Neighbour Scheme in your local community and joining the Suffolk Good Neighbour Network, please visit the website to find out more, and contact Jane, our Good Neighbour Network Development Officer, who will talk you through the process.

By visiting the website, you will also be able to discover the groups already on the network. Is there a group where you live?
