SET Saxmundham School

SET Saxmundham School has been busy providing structured school days via remote learning since the start of the year. Following a normal timetable is key to maintaining routine, whether working at home or in school. This includes having regular tutor contact with all students, offering them support and identifying the needs of each and every one of them to ensure their wellbeing is looked after.

The Art and DT departments have been providing resources to students, particularly those in Year 10 and 11 preparing for their GCSEs. This has included ensuring they have canvases, paint, brushes and paper so they can continue their portfolios. Humanities and Science have been sending out revision books and the school has loaned 45 Chromebooks to students and also BT Wi-Fi systems. If a student cannot easily get into school to collect their items, they have been sent out via a school minibus.

The school has been amazed by the quality of work sent in from home by students who are embracing remote learning and has been sharing this via social media and on the weekly bulletin which goes out to families.

To ensure students stay engaged, several competitions have been introduced, ranging from writing sea shanties to performing, writing lyrics and a poetry competition.

Those students who have been in school have a treat on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Wednesday is Brunch Day!

March 1 is the date when Suffolk County Council releases the names of our next intake of Year 7 students for September 2021 and we are pleased to be welcoming new families to the SET Saxmundham community.
