Santa and His Elves On The Hunt For Support

After a year of such great change, Santa and his elves are leaving nothing to chance and will be doing a practice run around East Anglia ahead of their big night on Christmas Eve – and they want you to join them!

Their rehearsal, between Thursday 10 and Sunday 13 December, is being turned into a friendly Christmas competition, Santas vs Elves, to support East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH). Team Santa and Team Elves are recruiting now for people to walk, run, hop, skip or dance three miles or their own festive freestyle distance. People can join whichever team they wish, for free, and are asked to gain as much sponsorship as possible.

Leading the teams will be EACH Events Fundraiser, Emma Benstead, for Team Santa, and leading Team Elf is Community Fundraising Assistant, Issy O’Riordan. They are looking for their team members to cover the greatest number of cumulative miles and generate the biggest fundraising total.

Emma, Team Santa captain said: “Please dig out any red Santa hat or white beard you may have in the fancy dress wardrobe and join Team Santa! It’s been a challenging year for all charities, and EACH is no exception. We might normally be organising a community Santa run for Christmas, but clearly that can’t happen this year and it’s been the same story for so many other mass participation events that are crucial to funding our vital care and support. The impact on our income has and continues to be considerable, so each mile couldn’t count more in this virtual race.”

Issy, Team Elves captain said: “We’d love you to don any elf ears you may have and join Team Elves! We hope this festive competition will see lots of people who might normally take part in a larger-scale event keen to help raise important money for EACH. Keeping connected online has been more important than ever this year, so don’t forget to share what you’re doing on social media!”
