Music in Felixstowe has been putting on a selection of professional concerts online every week since last March to bring some light in these dark times.
We also put on some live concerts when the first lockdown ended, mostly outdoors, notably on the Millenium Green at Felixstowe Ferry and the bandstand in Elmhurst Park, Woodbridge. These were also streamed online. We enjoyed playing for care homes in Felixstowe as well. Since none of this is possible because of the weather at this time of year, we’ve contacted care homes to suggest they play some of our online performances to their residents. Over the course of the year we have covered most genres to suit all tastes.
Weekly online concerts planned are: A string quartet, a concert pianist, a flute duo with the amazing Anna Noakes, a double bassist, Scottish singer, Rab Noakes, who used to play in a band with Billy Connelly, a young rock trio, a singalong with the Von Bennetts and towards the end of March, a compilation of all the best bits!
We are intending to resume live concerts as soon as possible, starting with a concert by our light orchestra, Light at the End of the Tunnel.
All concerts can be seen for free on the Music in Felixstowe Facebook page and also on our website www.felixstowemusic.com
All the concerts are advertised to those on our mailing list. If you would like to be added to the list, either for hand delivery or via email, please let us know: Marsh Cottage, Felixstowe Ferry IP11 9RZ or musicinfelixstowe@gmail.com
Any donations are welcome. We have launched an appeal at JustGiving Music in Felixstowe. We have also received a grant from Felixstowe Town Council. Musicians are suffering so badly just now as all their work has dried up. We are trying to help in a small way.
