Medequip Connect: Keeping People Living Safely and Independently In Their Own Homes for Longer

Medequip is a family-run, 4th generation, business, and became the UK’s first company to receive an outsourced Community Equipment contract from the government in 1993.

They provide equipment to help support vulnerable people in their homes alongside offering Technology Enabled Care (Telecare) services called Medequip Connect, which allows for the team to support vulnerable people with 24/7 monitoring of personal alarms, responder or pick up services, falls prevention, well-being support, lifestyle monitoring and much more. Stephen McKee, from the Suffolk branch, said that Medequip’s motto is ‘to keep people living safely and independently in their own homes for longer.’

They have regional hubs in Suffolk, Oxfordshire, Cumbria and Lancashire, where they have specially trained responders to come out and help you. They are also expanding these regions as quickly as they can in order to provide even more help and assistance across the country.

Stephen said: “There are several providers out there who have alarm and monitoring services but none of our competitors also have an emergency response team who will  actually come out and help you straight away.”

All of the staff at Medequip Connect are fully-trained, including specialist training in call handling, and all responders have first aid and manual handling, risk awareness training, welfare training, dementia awareness, safeguarding and much more so you can relax knowing that you’re in safe hands. All of Mediquip’s staff and responders will also arrive at an emergency situation in full PPE too so that you’re as safe as can be. On top of all of that, Medequip are now planning to expand to offer a specialist dementia pack soon.

Stephen said: “Every person in the company really believes in what they do and wants to do everything they can to support people. It’s amazing to work for a company that can have such a positive impact on people, improving their independence, confidence and having an all-round great impact on their lives.”

Direct readers can either call their local regional office and an information pack will be sent out to them or visit the Medequip Connect website where they can purchase a plan.
