Launch Of ‘Rebuilding Local Lives Surviving Winter Appeal’

For almost a decade, Suffolk Community Foundation’s annual Surviving Winter Appeal has saved lives in Suffolk, raising vital funds and supporting many thousands of vulnerable and older people to stay warm and well in their own homes.

However, with Covod-19 on the rise and so many people already in need of help, the launch of this year’s appeal is being brought forward by a month and combined with the central Re-Building Local Lives emergency appeal for the county.

The priority is to ensure that vulnerable people in Suffolk ‘Stay Warm, Stay Well and Stay Connected’ as the nights draw in and temperatures drop.

Through recent challenging times, the Foundation has already worked with Suffolk to raise £1.7 million and delivered over 350 grants to local organisations worth nearly £1.5 million but, as winter approaches, a further £300,000 is urgently needed to support local need.

Last year the annual Surviving Winter Appeal raised enough money to heat over 1,000 homes and connected hundreds of vulnerable people to other services to help tackle isolation, other physical and mental health issues and improve poor living conditions, debt and a general lack of access to services that could improve their lives.
