Facts at your Fingertips!

Suffolk Libraries have added the Britannica All New Kids’ Encyclopedias to the extensive free eLibrary resources. All eight volumes are now available to download and explore as eBooks. The encyclopedias are available as unlimited titles so there is no limit to the number of copies which can be downloaded and enjoyed.

The encyclopedias cover titles including Universe, Life, Humans, Ancient and Medieval Times and Modern Times. Anyone with a Suffolk Libraries account can access the titles via the Overdrive service and there is more information on how to sign up and access the service for free on the Suffolk Libraries website.

Sophie Green, Suffolk Libraries Stock Team Librarian, said:

“Britannica children’s encyclopaedias are fantastic for homework – the information is everything you could want; reliable, accurate, up-to-date and accessible. The eBooks are also perfect for kids with curious minds that love reading facts. Encyclopaedias offer information in chunks, so they are excellent for browsing through, learning about our world (and the universe beyond) and finding fascinating facts to think about and share.”

The encyclopedias are just one of the many resources Suffolk Libraries is providing to support parents and families during the current lockdown.

The eLibrary service also provides many other titles for children and young people. Parents can also access the free Kanopy streaming services which includes Kanopy Kids and wide range of courses and films.

You can find resources for home schooling on the Suffolk Libraries website including support for teachers and homework help.

For younger children Suffolk Libraries will be streaming regular storytime and craft activities as well as author talks and other online activities. For more information check out www.suffolklibraries.co.uk/live.
