July 2020 marked five years since David Button Independent Funeral Directors opened its doors to their funeral home in Walton, Felixstowe.
The business was built from scratch by David who has previously worked for a national funeral firm and for a time at an independent funeral home in Norfolk. Since deciding to launch his own business, David has focused on a providing a personalised face-to-face funeral arranging service, either at his premises on Walton High Street or in the comfort of the grieving family’s home.
“Personalising a funeral is the final act of kindness for a loved one,” explains David, “and my team and I work closely with the family to meet individual requirements. We help people during the most difficult time of their lives and aim to make it as stress-free as possible.”
Of course, the pandemic has impacted on how all funeral directors operate all the required regulations are being carefully and consistently enforced by David and his colleagues.
“We do have to maintain social distance but this doesn’t hinder us or effect our ability to be compassionate in any way. I am genuinely passionate about the service we provide and I’m confident we can cope with any changes or restrictions which are required.”
At David Button Independent Funeral Directors, aftercare is very much part of caring for families who have lost a loved one. As well as having bereavement get-togethers at least once a month, they offer free bereavement counselling which provides a telephone helpline, email advice, an online chat facility or six face-to-face sessions.
David says: ‘’It really is such a privilege to be able to care for someone’s loved one. The friendships we have made along the way are simply amazing. We express our appreciation of the trust placed in us by supporting the local community through sponsorship or involvement in community fundraising initiatives.”
