Felixstowe resident, Shannon Doherty, is organising something special during the school summer holidays to encourage children to read. From 29 July, Shannon will be running another Felixstowe Book Hunt within the community, giving children the chance to enjoy a fun activity out in the fresh air, some outdoor exercise and time at home with a good book.

Shannon, who runs a home bookshop called Gracie’s Gorgeous Books (Usborne Books), said: “I am a mum to one little girl, two-year-old Gracie-Mae, and I am very passionate about putting books into children’s hands to encourage them to read more. I will be hiding books in and around Felixstowe for children to find, and clues will be given out on social media. When a child finds a book, they can take it home to read and then re-hide it for another child to find.”

Felixstowe Book Hunt is not-for-profit and all books will be supplied by Shannon. Would you like to help supply books for this wonderful event? Shannon is looking for businesses to sponsor a book for £1, or you can sponsor 50 books for £39.99. For your sponsorship, you’ll receive a book plate advertising your business in each of the books you sponsor, and you’ll also be promoted in the Facebook group where Shannon will be posting the clues.

To find out more, head on over to Shannon’s Felixstowe Book Hunt Facebook group. If you’d like to sponsor a book (or books), email shannondoherty75@gmail.com or phone 07377 509150.
