Book Lending to Resume At Libraries From Next Week

With infection rates now much lower in the county, Suffolk Libraries are planning to start reintroducing services at library buildings from next week.

These services will initially be limited to the Select and Collect service and reservations so that people can request and pick up books and other items from their library.

These services will return at most libraries from the week of Monday 15 February. Some libraries will reopen the week after and Newmarket, Elmswell and Lakenheath libraries will remain closed for the time being due to ongoing building/repair work at these libraries.

Suffolk Libraries is currently in the process of finalising the full dates and details so customers are advised to check the library branch pages and our COVID-19 page later this week or contact their local library for more details.

Suffolk Libraries is reassuring customers that there will be no rush to bring items back as the return date for current loans has been extended until 1 March. All new library loans from next week will be given an extended six-week return date.

COVID-19 safety procedures will be in place in all libraries. Browsing inside libraries and the use of computers will remain unavailable for the time being. The mobile library services and home library service will also remain suspended for now.

As always these plans are dependent on any changes in infection rates or government guidance.
