Aladdin at Spa Pavilion

This year, Felixstowe’s award-winning Spa Pavilion Theatre has Aladdin, one of the best ‘fairy-tale’ stories, as its family pantomime. Marking an incredible 58th Annual Pantomime season at The Spa by expert local provider Dennis Lowe Theatre Company, now under the directorship of Suzie Lowe, this year’s show promises the usual feast of family fun, singalong music and hilarity, as it takes the audience through Aladdin’s attempts at capturing the heart of the beautiful and headstrong Princess (Suzie Lowe).

The show features the immensely talented Jon Bingham as Aladdin, and funnyman Dean Wales playing his mother, Widow Twankey. Jon is well-known for playing numerous pantomime roles at The Spa, and for starring in their production of Shrek, which played to rave reviews! Many locals will also remember Dean (indeed, how could they forget that role?!), from his stellar performance in ‘Priscilla: Queen of the
Desert’, at The Spa last Spring.

Aladdin’s little brother Wishee Washee (Oliver Jenkins) has the near impossible job of holding it all together, as Aladdin and Twankey get into a series of scrapes … culminating in Aladdin’s epic search for the fabled magic lamp. John Ling’s Abanaza adds some devilment and boos, with Leeann Ling as Slave of the Ring on hand to ‘help’, all ensuring that Aladdin’s quest is anything but straightforward, with hilarious
capers along the way.

The full cast includes a junior dance troupe, to give stage experience to the budding stars of the future, making the Spa’s panto one of the last surviving true family shows around. In addition, the Spa’s sea-view restaurant and bars are open throughout the day of each performance, making a great value breakfast or lunch possible as part of a great day out.
