Suffolk County Council’s Children and Young People’s Engagement Hub have relaunched ‘Yojo’ – a new and improved careers and apprenticeships app. The app has arrived just in time for National Apprenticeships Week (7-13 February).

Yojo (short for you+jobs) was first launched back in 2014 and was the first of its kind. After two years of re-development with digital consultant’s Pootle & Pog, the app has been rejuvenated. It provides support to young people in Suffolk aged 14 to 25 who are looking for traineeships and apprenticeships, making it easier for them to find and apply for opportunities.

The app has a huge range of features. It allows any young person to search for career paths, practice their interview skills with an interactive quiz, create a CV, and apply for apprenticeships – all whilst on the go via their mobile device.

Rachel Hood, Cabinet member for Education, SEND and Skills for Suffolk County Council, said: “This is an extremely valuable resource for young people. Entering the world of work is complex at the best of times and it’s especially hard on young people starting out during a pandemic. The app will make it easier for young people in Suffolk to find career opportunities.”

Sarah Finch, director of Pootle & Pog, said: “The Engagement Hub wanted an app created with young people for young people. The improved yojo app now puts the world of work in their pocket.”

The yojo app also includes a range of useful information to guide students in making the right decision about what they want to do. They can explore different career options by interests and subjects and the app will show them their entry-level requirements. If they’re feeling really stuck, yojo has links to contacts if they need to speak to someone for help – the app brings together key services that provide careers support.

The yojo app is available to download from the App Store and the Play Store now!
